I thought I’d break the long silence here in my blog with a cool announcement.
As you may know, I’ve taken on the role of lead editor at SharePoint Magazine. One of my first ideas was to run an aspiring authors competition to help authors who may not have the attention they deserve get into the spotlight and help promote their great content.
The result of this idea is the first Aspiring Authors competition we’ll run. If this turns into a success, we’ll have more, but for the first one, here’s the pitch.
We ask authors to submit their articles to SharePoint Magazine. Then, from the articles we receive, an expert jury will pick three finalists whose articles will be edited and published in SharePoint Magazine, both online and in print.
Then we turn the final decision over to the community. For one month, starting May 1, the community will have a chance to vote for their favorite article, and the winner will be the article that receives the most votes by the end of May.
The grand prize is a 12-month full tuition scholarship at USPJ Academy, a three-article publishing contract with SharePoint Magazine, and inclusion in an upcoming program called the author mentoring program, aimed at further improving the writing skills and career of the winner.
The two other finalists will receive 3-month full tuition scholarships plus a contract for one more article with SharePoint Magazine.
